The Two Bridges - Watford Road
The Two Bridges public house was built to replace The Halfway House adjacent to the canal. Problems on the canal bridge built originally to take light weight horse drawn vehicles had an increase in size and weight of motorised transport. Demolishing the pub and creating a dual carriage way together with reinforcing the canal bridge was the only option at that time.
The new pub opened on 12th December 1957 as The Two Bridges. The chosen site also had some significant changes with the junction of Baldwins Lane and the Watford Road. This junction required widening and a pair of cottages were demolished. One of the cottages once was the home of the Sansom family, watercress growers who moved to Croxley Hall farm.
In a prominent position close to one of the main entrances to Croxley Green the pub had several enlargements from pub to restaurant. Currently (2015) it is a Harvester restaurant. The current website can be viewed here Harvester Croxley Green
