CCC History: - In Retrospect

2006 brings this brief history up to date. I am indebted to Kath Howard and Geoff Hermon for access to their photographs and photographic memories, especially in regard to details of the early years. Also of great value for this research were the records and images that survived Dick and Marie Hassell.
Croxley Camera Club started in 1960 with a few members all with a common interest in photography. The Club expanded and has experienced much success in competitions and its role as part of the village community. However changing social habits have now seen the Club contract although the advent of digital photography has seen an increase in interest and hopefully this will see an upturn in membership.
Whilst the cost of a cup of tea in the interval has risen 1000% from 7d (3p) to 30p (6/-), some things don’t change. 2006 saw a Club outing, a presence at the Croxley Revels and an evening with Watford CC. Although now later in the year, the Annual Show is still taking place - oh and the little matter of Kath Howard reaching 100 with Bert Woodward at 98 close behind. A special mention too for Geoff Hermon, the last original member of the Club, who still forms an important part of this band of enthusiasts.

You will recall that in 1960 Croxley Camera Club was set up to promote the “Science and Art of Photography”. Over the last 46 years the Club has seen the medium move on from darkroom, black and white, colour, transparencies and cine to digital imaging …………... Whatever next?
