How the Village viewed The Mill
"The above six images show that there were occasions when the company came under scrutiny regarding the resulting pollution from the papermaking process that occurred to the River Gade. Water was an important factor to the mill and the River Gade was culverted upstream to enter the mill. Once used it would exit the mill to re-join the river downstream on the other side.
Many chemicals were used throughout the mill as part of the process. They could get discharged back into the river and cause a problem as these images indicate. A worker can be seen at the section where the river has left the mill, attempting to minimise the waste."
