History of the Croxley Green Parish Map
In 1993, Croxley Green Parish Council commissioned a detailed map of the village, with beautiful illustrations and text describing its history.
It was painted by local artists Daphne Simmons and June Thomas, with research and calligraphy by librarian Norma Stubbington. The original watercolour still hangs in the parish council’s office.
Prints of the map became extremely popular, selling more than 2,000 copies in just 10 months, and its style was later copied by hundreds of other parish councils across the country. Prints of the map can be collected from the parish council offices on Community Way, with the only cost being a donation to the council’s chosen charity of the year.
