The Rickmansworth Urban District Council completed the purchase for Basing House, the home of William Penn c1672 for the use as the new Council Offices in January.

January 9th
Col Woolrych phoned to say he would give strip of land for path to river walk but would not sell land to extend Recreation Ground at Croxley Green.
(The path to river walk would be to the River Chess - from The Green near Little Gillions house)

January 10th
At Croxley Green recreation ground re football pitch to meet Mr Raggett & Mr Wilson but they did not turn up misunderstanding as to date.

January 11th
With Mr Raggett & Mr Wilson re shed, urinal etc.

January 14th
At Aylesbury with Cllr Raggett to inspect Refuse Destructer & Plant for sorting refuse.

January 27th
Mr Lomas re land near Scots Hill as to road etc from College lane, Croxley Hall.

March 5th
Croxley Green re site of seat near church & end of New Road with Panther.

March 6th
At Croxley Green church men fixing seat on path.
Tanburn's disinfecting after Scarlet Fever.
Wallis's, re name plate New Road.

March 8th
Looking for land for housing site opposite "Duke of York"
(This was probably the future Bateman Road)

May 8th 
County Architect called re sewer Harvey Road for new County Council School giving him particulars of services.
Annual dinner by Chairman at Victoria Hotel.
(The Victoria Hotel was opposite Rickmansworth railway station)

May 23rd
Seeing Downer & Trimmer re refuse lorry & Hall, re arrangements for next week.
(Hall was employed and contracted to collect the refuse in the district. Downer was a lorry driver)

May 26th
Col Woolrych called re land development on The Green.
June 17th
Croxley re house refuse various roads.

June 24th
Had phone laid on to house.

July 17th
Deputation from Croxley Green Allotment Holders re water supply. Agreed if they paid 1/- a year extra for each 10 poles.

July 19th
At Batchworth yard - subcommittee Mr Raggett Harold. Refuse collection estimate for new Dust cart & enlarging shed etc.

July 23rd
House refuse collection is mentioned for sub committee.

August 19th
At Basing House re alterations & as to Cookery class room.

September 15th
At Woodoaks Farm with Stone to look at 2nd hand farm cart. Mr Findlay asks 14 (?) for it.

September 30th
Mr Wise re land Baldwins Lane - Sewer and Services.

October 13th
At Loudwater with Mr Gibbons of Peerless Fencing Co re fence by Col Woolrych's land.

October 17th
River walk with P Walker meeting Mr Jeffs & Dorrofield re line of fence next Col Woolrych's land.

November 19th
Agricultural Hall attended Health Conference with Mr (?) & demonstration of refuse collecting vehicles.

November 29th
Batchworth seeing Downer re Refuse & at Hall's, re Cornwall, agreed to take him on for a few weeks at 50/- to help Smith.
Phoning Gabriel Police & Mr Norman Re pigs at Cassiobridge Farm in evening.
(Godfrey Cornwall came from Wales to work for Mr Hall, refuse contractor and then the council. He was renowned for singing during the collections and became known as ‘The Singing Dustman’ He was eventually employed in the council offices. Godfrey was also a keen collector of local history and was instrumental and founder member in setting up the Rickmansworth Historical Society and Rickmansworth museum. He eventually lived in Springfield Close, Croxley Green.)

November 30th
At Cassiobridge Farm with Police Sgt 2.30 pm till 4pm inspecting 14 carcasses, porkers and 1 sow to be sent to Smithfield's. 1 showed signs of swine fever.
Seeing intestines buried & covered with lime.

December 30th
Seeing Mr Jeffs & Mr Dimmock as to widening Loudwater Lane & writing letter with plan to County surveyor with Cooper on Hall's a/c for Refuse collection.

December 31st
Seeing Hall re Refuse collection & going through figures as to cost etc.
